More than a dozen kids from the Kingston Boys and Girls Club met with several volunteers recently at the offices of the Kingston Land Trust to start seedings for the City Garden project, chaired by land trust director Rebecca Martin.
The kids got their hands dirty, laughed and ate some snacks as they planted a variety of seeds, many of which were donated by High Mowing Organic Seeds of Vermont.
The City Gardens project is in the process of planting a Victory Garden at City Hall and working with Kingston City Schools on gardens for students as well as other community gardens within Kingston.
For more information or to volunteer, see the Kingston Victory Garden Project Yahoo! Group. The group’s Garden Committee meets on the second Thursday of each month, 6 p.m. Currently, the committee meets at City Hall while it searches for a home base to accommodate the group.
