Bio

LaLa Montoya was born in Colombia. She is an educator, Mother, Artist, permaculture designer and farmer. Lala has spent the last decade organizing community in the Hudson Valley. Through collaborative work with the educational community The Long Spoon Collective, she designed and stewards a cooperative of "Sharing" gardens. With the Edge Project Lala teaches about localizing our food system, transition towns and PDCs. She collaborates with the Underground Center at Kingston High School teaching young people from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds about gardening and food justice while bringing language justice to the classroom. She serves as an interpreter for Spanish and English focusing on social justice and permaculture(!) and is currently working with Poughkeepsie Farm Project, as Youth Program Coordinator.

Caring for people, caring for the earth and radically sharing are Lala's daily practices.
