The Kingston Greenline supports non-motorized transportation by making it easier and safer for pedestrians, cyclists, and people with disabilities to travel throughout the city. The system connects communities and provides residents better access to open space, exercise opportunities, and healthy food options.
The Kingston Greenline also serves as a hub for regional trails like the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail and O&W Rail Trail, and the Hudson River Valley Greenway trails, and is also part of the Empire State Trail. The Kingston Greenline is a joint initiative of the Kingston Land Trust, City of Kingston, and Ulster County.
Kingston Land Trust's Role as Initiative Partner
The KLT supported the Greenline through community engagement, technical assistance and system planning. This included hosting tours and cleanups, participating in planning and advisory committees, helping to design specific green spaces and web presense as well as conducting community outreach and event programming.
