Volunteers make the KLT what it is!
At Kingston Land Trust, volunteering is about more than lending a hand — it’s about caring for land, community, and each other.
We also steward and activate land across Kingston and Ulster County through many unique initiatives and programs, and there are meaningful ways for individuals, families, and youth to get involved. Whether you’re excited about land stewardship, food justice, community care, education, or behind-the-scenes support, there’s a place for you here.
Our volunteer opportunities span projects like Comida y Tierra, and the care of beloved places such as Land In Black Hands Farm, Forest Sanctuary, Red Fox Ravine, and the Murray Street Parklet, Esopus Floodplain — along with many other evolving efforts rooted in equity, ecology, and collective well-being.
No prior experience is needed — we welcome people of all backgrounds and ages, and provide guidance and support along the way!

Join the Community Stewardship Crew Whatsapp Group!
Dedicated volunteers can become consistent community stewards. Community Stewards make a deeper commitment and take a more active role in caring for KLT land in their neighborhood. These local heroes know about and use the specific stewardship tools and techniques for their particular patch of land, and share their knowledge with visitors as needed. Join the group here!
