Located in the hamlet of Wilbur, Red Fox Ravine contains the historic Wilbur quarry and 20 acres of surrounding forest that covers the ridge overlooking the Rondout creek.
Getting There & Parking
Red Fox Ravine is located at 66 Wilbur Ave.
There are ten parking spots, including one ADA spot. Once these ten parking spots are used, the parking lot is at capacity and if you arrive and the lot is full, please come back another time. Soon we hope to work with the city to install a crosswalk that would make pedestrian access safer from the minimal street parking throughout Wilbur. Please do not attempt to park along Wilbur Ave.
Preserve Features
From the parking lot, there are two trails that lead up to a community gathering space in the heart of the quarry. One is a more direct route with stone steps at the end, and another is a longer but more gradual approach that meets accessibility guidelines published by the US Forest Service.
The community gathering space has a central stage that can also be used as a shelter. It is fitted with a rainwater catcher. We look forward to hosting many events here and invite you to gather and enjoy.
If you are interested in booking an event or show involving the stage, please contact our outreach manager Annie Horner at annie@kingstonlandtrust.org
Visitor Guidelines
As of now, only the area around the parking lot, these two trails, and the main quarry area are open. Please do not go beyond these areas or signs indicating which areas are not open. In general we ask that visitors exercise caution and care for the land, and follow the guidelines posted onsite.
