Lower Esopus Creek Paddle

Join the KLT to paddle in a kayak or canoe from the DEC boat launch on Sandy Rd three miles to the Town of Ulster Esopus Creek Access. 

The paddle will include one portage (boat carry) on a short trail through floodplain forest protected by the KLT last year. At the end, we’ll visit KLT-protected edible riparian buffer land.

If you’re excited about exploring our local waterways with your neighbors and want to learn more about the multilateral effort to bring more attention to and stewardship of the lower Esopus Creek, this event is for you!

We may be able to secure a kayak or canoe for people who need this. Otherwise, BYOB (bring your own boat!). We will also organize a shuttle system so people can get back to their cars. For these reasons, RSVPs are super important for this event! Include with your RSVP whether you would need a boat or will be providing your own.
