Murray Round Food Forest - Community Celebration and Planting
Join us as we continue to plant and expand the Murray Round Food Forest and parklet! Your efforts planting trees, shrubs, and flowers will support community members working to bring edible abundance and shade to an underutilized grass and asphalt area in an environmental justice zone.
Project Background:
Building off of our work creating a community food forest in the nearby Forest Sanctuary, the KLT has been working with residents of Rondout Gardens and other community members to design a parklet and food forest where it’s needed most. Through our annual Fall Fest, door-to-door outreach, relationship building and other community engagement efforts, we’ve brought in a lot of community to this process at every stage over the past several years. In 2025, we gathered a team of Rondout Gardens residents and other community members that was awarded a Kingston Common Futures grant for this project. We’re also coordinating with the City of Kingston, since the project is on city land.
