In this guided plants-as-medicine walk, Evan and Karine will share plant wisdom and stories from their Algonquin elders as we make our way across the wild fields of traditional Esopus Munsee (Lenni-Lenape Delaware) territory of eastern Kingston. We will also discuss the local Native American history and culture of the area. Evan and Karine will be available afterwards to offer their books and herbal products for purchase.

Evan Pritchard (of Mi’kmaq descent) is the director of Center for Algonquin Culture and University professor for twenty-five years, and the author of over seventy books on Algonquin culture, including Native New Yorkers, No Word For Time, Bird Medicine, and Henry Hudson and the Algonquins of New York, plus several books on herbs including Aunt Helen’s Little Herb Book, Herbs Are Verbs and Wandering Bear (a foraging YA novel set in Ulster County) evan.pritchard7@gmail.com 

Karine Gordineer (of Mahican descent) is the founder of Green Girl Herbs & Healing, is an Herbalist, Certified Plant Spirit Healing Practitioner, Shamanic Practitioner, a Certified Reiki Master, and Educator, offering individual healing sessions, herbal wellness consultations, and classes. Karine has trained extensively in Plant Spirit Healing, Shamanism and energetic healing modalities as well as medicinal herbalism. She has taught at the NY Open Center, the Omega Center, Center for Algonquin Culture, Marist College, and teaches Herbalism Beyond the Basics and other courses at The New York Botanical Garden.
