Abdiel López Torres is a NYS licensed geologist with nearly 20 years of experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on complex environmental projects. Abdiel brings to the KLT a passion for land conservation, the revitalization of legacy industrial sites into thriving community spaces, and engaging with the Spanish-speaking community.
Currently, Abdiel serves as Brownfields Lead and Senior Project Manager at a leading environmental remediation company. In this role, Abdiel has established and implemented a growth initiative focused on addressing environmental justice needs in underserved communities through data accessibility and community engagement tools, green and sustainable remediation and nature-based solutions. He also supports project teams throughout the Northeast.
Before his current role, Abdiel worked at a regional land conservation organization, where he managed real estate transactions, environmental assessments, brownfields and remediation projects at former industrial and railroad sites for their conversion into public spaces and nature preserves. During this time, he collaborated closely with The KLT and partners on the Pine Street African Burial Ground and the Land In Black Hands Farm projects.
Abdiel is a proud Puerto Rican, born and raised, and enjoys riding longboard skateboards, playing the drums, and producing electronic music.
