Megan Offner

Board Director
Growing up in western Montana, surrounded by expansive natural beauty and devastating clearcuts, instilled in Megan a life-long commitment to preventing unnecessary deforestation, and to cultivating collaborative practices rooted in ecological reciprocity.
Megan is the owner and co-founder of New York Heartwoods, a woman-owned forest products consultancy that creates circular solutions to designing and building with wood. Working with a vetted network of mills, kilns and fabricators, Megan coordinates and manages logistics to transform site salvaged, storm-felled and urban trees into furniture and building materials for residential, commercial and artistic applications. With 26 years of experience in design/build industries, and 16 years working on regional land-based projects, she holds dual degrees from Lewis & Clark College, expertise in green building, furniture manufacturing, permaculture design, sustainable systems thinking, and strategic planning for climate resilience.
In her free time she can be found in the woods hiking with her partner and pup, volunteering with KLT or the Woodstock Land Conservancy, in her kitchen concocting food or herbal remedies, fixing up her home, foraging, or whittling with friends.
