Bio

Tom O’Dowd is the new land stewardship coordinator. He was born and raised in the Hudson Valley and returned after work and school around the country. Tom has a background in science teaching and stewardship (he studied Environmental Studies and Community Development at UVM, Natural Resources at Michigan, and 7-12 biology teaching at Empire State) 

Tom’s work has included classroom teaching, outdoor education, trail maintenance, and ecological restoration (including jobs at Red Hook and Chatham public schools, Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, The Nature Conservancy, Wild Earth, Bard College, San Mateo Outdoor Education, and Adelante Spanish Immersion School). 

When not hiking, biking, skiing, or paddling, Tom is often found teaching people about trees at parcels of the Columbia Land Conservancy and the Wallkill Valley Land Trust and anywhere trees can be found (his current favorite tree is the Juglans cinerea!)!
