Collard Green Tasting & Harvest Gathering

Event is for

To support and uplift the many wonderful community events happening on the original date, we are postponing our Harvest Gathering. Instead, we’re excited to invite you to join us for a Collard Green Tasting & Harvest Gathering In partnership with Dream Garden Rainbow Snake at the Rondout Community Garden.

This year, we are excited to connect our harvest to the Purple Ultracross Collard Project, a Hudson Valley Farm Hub initiative that honors these traditions while expanding biodiversity and preserving heirloom varieties for future generations. Collard greens hold deep cultural significance in African American foodways, representing resilience, survival, and the sharing of sustenance across generations. They are a cornerstone of Southern cuisine and a living symbol of heritage carried through the African diaspora.

Participants will also have the opportunity to take home a bag of fresh veggies and collards (as supplies last)—so RSVP and don’t forget to bring a tote!

This event is free, but you can contribute in the following ways:

Bring seeds if you have some to share.

Share your family collard recipes!

Bring your good vibes and willingness to try something new if this is your first time.
