Comida y Tierra: Espacios Verdes y Vida Silvestre en la Ciudad de Kingston

Después de una pausa de 7 meses, ¡Comida y Tierra está de regreso! Presentamos un tema muy apropiado para el verano en Kingston que nos ayudará a disfrutar los espacios verdes en nuestra ciudad y cultivar nuestras relaciones con las plantas, animales, y vecinos con que compartimos estos espacios. 

Si tienes al menos un nivel principiante de español conversacional, pedimos que confirmes asistencia al evento a través del enlace. Compartiremos el lugar del evento con las personas confirmadas antes del evento. Estamos comprometidos a hacer todo lo posible para proteger y reunirnos en solidaridad con nuestra comunidad inmigrante amada. 

Este evento de Comida y Tierra será muy especial porque estarán presentes dos expertas medioambientalistas para ayudarnos a conocer plantas y animales mejor. 

Mimi Lucero, ecologista y guardiana de semillas del tribu Kichwa en los montañas Andes de Ecuador, nos guiará en una actividad de identificar especies claves culturales para el tribu local Lenape además de comunidades Maya y Q’eqchi. 

Kayal Patel, planificadora urbana y medioambientalista y empleada de Scenic Hudson, nos presentará algunos resultados iniciales de una iniciativa de ciencia popular que explora la biodiversidad de la ciudad de Kingston. 

El Kingston Land Trust presentará sobre los espacios verdes disponibles en Kingston y nuestro proyecto de restauración ecológica.

Los participantes también aprenderán cómo pueden involucrarse en estas tres iniciativas este verano.   

Kingston Land Trust se enorgullece de presentar este evento en asociación con Scenic Hudson y Inside the Husk.

After a seven-month hiatus, Comida y Tierra is back! The theme is very appropriate for summer in Kingston and will help us enjoy our city's green spaces and cultivate our relationships with the plants, animals, and neighbors with whom we share these spaces.

If you have at least a beginner level of conversational Spanish, we ask that you RSVP for the event through the link. We will share the event location with those who RSVP prior to the event. We are committed to doing everything possible to protect and gather in solidarity with our beloved immigrant community.

This event will be very special because two environmental experts will be present to help us learn more about plants and animals.

Mimi Lucero, an ecologist and seed keeper from the Kichwa tribe in the Andes Mountains of Ecuador, will lead us in an activity to identify keystone cultural species of the local Lenape people, as well as Mayan and Q'eqchi communities.

Kayal Patel, an urban planner and environmentalist and Scenic Hudson staff member, will present some initial results of a citizen science initiative exploring the biodiversity of the city of Kingston.

The Kingston Land Trust will present on the available green spaces in Kingston and our ecological restoration project.

Participants will also learn how they can get involved in these three initiatives this summer.

We are happy to be hosting this event in partnership with Scenic Hudson and Inside the Husk. 

As always, tickets are free for native Spanish speakers and a suggested donation of $30 for non-native Spanish speakers to support the meal of your conversation partners.
